Jeeps are More Popular than Ever
Jeep ended 2014 with record numbers as sales topped 1
million units for the first time, thanks to factors including a demand for SUVs
and lower gas prices. Just for Jeeps customers are well aware of the quality,
durability and style of Jeeps and it seems the world is taking notice. Jeep
owner Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV recently reported an increase in global
sales of 39 percent to 1.02 million vehicles led by Cherokees and Grand
Cherokees. In addition, other Jeep SUV models contributed to these record
sales.
Growth in 2014 was led by more than 692,000 deliveries in the United States, a whopping 41 percent increase from 2013. This made Jeep the fastest-growing major auto brand in the U.S. During the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January 2014, Fiat Chrysler’s CEO predicted sales of more than 1 million units but that was seen as being too high a number, with 800,000 units being a more realistic forecast. On the heels of a great 2014, what can Jeep expect for 2015? Gas prices are still low, so that may continue to fuel SUV sales. Jeep is expanding its U.S. lineup to include the subcompact Jeep Renegade and a refreshed Grand Cherokee is due later in 2015, the popular Cherokee and expanded sales in Europe and Asia should lead to a solid 2015.
